i remember a book, or i'm trying to

i don't even remember who the main character was, it took place in the mountains on this country family's property, they started seeing pagan symbols and shit in the woods and decided to investigate, also there is an old indian man who warns of marvcrabens or some other old unspeakable ancient indian bird monsters who are unleashed and eat people, and uh... that's about it

i know it sounds like some country bumpkin redneck story but it was more along the lines of a old time mystery, written in the 60s i believe
