>as far as charity goes it's more active than the UN and runs most hospitals in the 3rd world
They sainted a nun (making her a saint is a big deal, remember, that's the whole Church's authority behind someone) who ran a horrific death cult in those "hospitals" and RC hospitals in Latin America at least are notorious for hunting you down forever if you owe them. Those hospitals are a business, not a charity.

>People constantly go to missions all the time.
Somebody has to remind the residents of violent African nations that the local homosexuals deserve a little extra violence and that AIDS is preferable to condom use.

You don't have to be Wittgenstein to come out on top of an interaction with academia. You may not actually slay the thing but if you learn a lot and make a name for yourself without sucking dick then what have you lost? I know guys with philosophy degrees making dank money on Wall Street and in consulting jobs, and I know philosophy guys doing legit work alongside scientists in cognitive and media research labs. I don't think those guys got fucked, exactly.

Third worlders pls go. I'm jealous, but that's a lot more impressive if you make it happen in the states.

I think he's just being elitist. I actually agree. Most people get very upset when you challenge them and the poor and uneducated are the worst about this because they live in a world primarily of dominance/submission and sex, so anything they don't understand is perceived as hostile.

>they want to be transparently aggressive against ideas which do not mesh with their own
If you believed that people need to believe in a God, and so we should leave them along, that would be an example of an idea that does not mesh with my own.

When you say that there is, factually and for certain, a male deity who interacted with specific people in the middle east at known times and places who then switched his whole identity and demeanour around at roughly 4 A.D. and inspired a specific number of men to flawlessly record his goings-on and no more despite there existing hundreds of other versions with no less verifiable claims truth, and that if I don't buy the forgiveness potion this deity is selling I will suffer forever, but you can't show me anything concrete and I just have to take him into my heart in a moment of need, i.e. when I'm at rock-bottom and emotionally vulnerable, then you're promoting something other than just an idea. It is indeed the job of any reasonable person to prevent you from getting into the minds of wounded people and children.

>despite being dumber
>write trite bullshit
This is what I meant about making assumptions. I don't think a long-term, working exposure to a place and its people is likely to be the basis for triteness, but you assume that to make yourself feel better the same way that other guy assumes rich kids who do things he's jealous of are predominantly dumber than him despite wealthy people having higher average IQs, stacking the odds against that conclusion, all this without running down my own credentials since you just wouldn't believe me anyway.

>implying I advocate these things
Dad, get off 4chan. We've been over this a thousand times. I'm not going off on some self-destructive rampage just because I'm not a Christian.

While we're building scarecrows, I bet you think "that which is not forbidden is permitted," too. That's the excuse plenty of Christians use not to engage in ethical questioning beyond what's in the scriptures, because that could tie their hands from doing god's will.

It's a cop out because the end of the Kaliyuga is still thousands of years in the future, so nobody can expect to see any pivotal change. This way, the entire history of Hinduism (or at leas the branches that believe in these stages) has been a matter of, "oh it's okay, things are supposed to be fucked but all our myth takes place at a time when they were way better."

Galaxies have been moving apart since the beginning of the universe. There are also credible models that show the end of the universe as we know it would be preceeded my galaxies moving together, so it's really up in the air and has literally nothing to do with Hinduism because ancient Hindu priests had no way to measure universe expansion.

>high auction prices and placement in galleries mean everyone thinks it's good

The gallery/financial side of art is for money-laundering and rich-guy dickwaving, not aesthetics. The "art-community" is just bigger and more established than it used to be because MFA programs and "living in Brooklyn to be an artist" are accessible to talentless rich kids who jerk each other off to maintain the illusion they're doing something good.

Neither of those things are central to the common perception of art.

PS, Jackson Pollock's work doesn't have at all the same impact scaled-down as it does in person. Old Masters made plenty of paintings that relied on their scale to get their point across. The youtube professor smugly refusing to address this makes him look pretty ignorant, tbh.

>exsanguination
I was in the national finals of the Readers Digest Word Power Challenge way back in 2007, the last year it was held. I'd estimate that 20% of the finalists put down "exsanguinate" or "exsanguination" as their favorite word.

We were all in middle school so it's just a normal amount of edge. Also, if the chill football player from Virginia is ITT, hit me up.
