This is unfortunate what Buddhism is in many cases. But I don't know how anyone can read something like The Awakening of Faith in the Mahayana and get such an impression.
The problem is that some contrarian or some western Hinayanist is now going to come and tell me that Kasyapa betrayed the Buddha and Mahayana is not real Buddhism etc.
This appears to be the real problem with Buddhism to me.
