/lit/ - Literature

Hey /lit/, after watching A Game of Thrones, I decided to start reading it, and it's actually very good. To put it honestly, I haven't read vary many books recently, but I wanted to try out the kindle my aunt gave me. As it stands, I'm about 1/4 through the first book. I was mostly just curious to see if /lit/ actually liked this series or not.

What book is this show based off?

Would it be worth reading the books or should i just wait untill they put them on TV?

Although I don't ALWAYS agree with the show, the books are great. I am halfway through the last book Martin released and I am still loving it...do continue!

apparently you guys love these books.

i preferred to just watch the show because i don't expect them to be such a great read. this opinion is based on the first season, i haven't read a word.

so tell me /lit/, am i wrong? it seems like just some generic fantasy with a little bit better than usual character/world design.
