I read one of her early short stories about a girl who hires a guy to come and trim her tree (no, it's not a metaphor, it's her actual tree, in her garden). He comes early in the morning and she peeks out at him and he stands and cries for a few minutes before he starts. It's a weird story but good, a bit like Raymond Carver. But it was just the one story; I couldn't find any English translations of her collections. Plus she's a babe (or she was).

It's perfectly possible to have a favourite female writer without reading anything by female writers. You just use other criteria — personal aesthetic appeal, for example. I'm quite partial to Helle Helle (contemporary Danish MILF).

Contemporary Danish author. She's a knockout. Good short stories (Raymond Carver style) but hard to get in English.

If anyone knows where I can get her two short story collections (Remains & Cars and Animals) in English, let me know. I've read a couple of individual stories & translated online but there seems to be nothing in print.

She's a Danish author who's written a bunch of short stories and a couple of novels, somewhat in the style of Raymond Carver. She's very cute in a mommy sort of way.

(I don't rate the novels much but the short stories aren't bad.)
