Read Catherine of Siena, The Dialogue with God the Father.

Reading it, it is persuasive enough that I really believed it was such a dialogue. It answers a lot of your questions - to an extent.

Albeit, not this one:
>But why does fucking man-ass matter to God?

Intercourse allows for the creation of new life. As such, it is sacred, or should be. Hence the prohibition on fornication, adultery and sodomy.

That erection of yours? There's a reason for it -- it's to plant to seed in the garden of life, in the womb of your beloved.

>I bet it was just a pyramid scam to get people to chase an unnattainable lifestyle

Nah. You hit the wall of the flesh, where Augustine "took and read," and continued on his spiritual journey.

And now you've fallen into the slough of despond, as Bunyan put it.

That is to say, you are, now, truly tasting and knowing your fallen human condition.

The murmur of a prayer can save, could turn things around. God is good, and patient.

You might find something of value in the blogging or books of Eve Tushnet.

Also, would highly recommend Catherine of Siena, Dialogue with God the Father. You're presently stuck in the bramble bush, down at the base. You have to gather the courage, with God's grace, to get through that.

Caussade, Abandonment to Divine Providence.

It is very short, and very profound.

Would also highly recommend two other truly remarkable, extremely rich texts:

Catherine of Siena, The Dialogue. The pic related edition, from Paulist Press, has a superb introduction, and appears to have been unusually well-edited as a whole.

Sister Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul.

Oh, and then there's this, too:
John Paul II's Marian encyclical, Redemptoris Mater (1987) is an inspired work, obviously the product of a lifetime of meditating on the Marian doctrines. This edition with an intro by Ratzinger makes for a particularly nice package:

And:
D'Elbee, I Believe in Love

The above reflects my best of the best list, anon. Blessings

It's spiritually imprudent to desire or seek mystical visions.

However, you can read the writings of some of the great mystics, such as:

- Catherine of Siena
- Sr. Faustina
- Teresa of Avila
- John of the Cross

Catherine of Siena, The Dialogue (with God the Father), is an amazing book. I particularly like the pic related translation, with a fine Introduction and notes, from Paulist Press, part of their Classics of Western Spirituality series.
