As of June 5th 2011 Peru elected a new president. The man who was elected is Ollanta Humala. Ollanta’s opponent was Congresswoman Keiko Fujimori. Keiko is the daughter of Peru’s ex jailed president, who’s name is Alberto Fujimori who lived from (Roberts1). Even though Ollanta won it was a close election.
Ollanta Humala is the president of Peru who was born June 26 1962. Ollanta’s father is Isaac Humala (roberts2). Isaac was a lawyer; Isaac was also a member of The Communist Party of Peru (Roberts3). Ollanta has a brother whose name is Antuaro, Antuaro is very infamous due to him kidnapping 17 police officers for 3 days and killing four of them. Antuaro has been in prison for 25 years (Roberts4). Before Ollanta became a politician he was pursuing his career in the military. Ollanta was involed with two of Peru’s most famous conflicts which were Cenepa war, and the battle of the insurgents (Robets5). Peru has had conflicts with other countries just like any other country. Two of the major conflicts Peru has faced were the battle of the insurgents and the Cenepa war (Rivera1). The Cenepa war was a conflict between Ecuador and Peru (Rivera2). What happened was that the two countries fought over who controlled a designated area that was between the Border of the two countries (Rivera3). The purpose of the Shining was that the Shining path wanted to install a new democracy into Peru (jazeera1). The way they saw things was that they thought that imposing a dictatorship and imposing a cultural revolution would cause a Worldwide revolution (jazeera2). The shining path is still around however they aren’t much active. Ollanta witnessed these battles firsthand (Rivera1).
