What would he think of 21st century Japan?

What're some books like the stuff pic related does that's concerned with an objective beauty and perfection in life? Either hating that it's there (like Golden Pavilion) or trying to attain it?
I imagine there's a book like this from a Christian/Catholic perspective with the objective perfection obviously being God and leaving the physical world behind while still on earth

Authors shouldn’t try to hide their complexes and posture a clean and perfect psyche, they should unrepentantly embrace theme without dishonesty or angst like Mishima does. I’m only a chapter in but fuck, this guy is good
