In Broken Kingdoms she basically had /ss/ bait and Broken Earth is like the reverse. I am getting some pretty strong Darker than Black vibes especially Hei and Yin from Schaffa and Nassun minus the Roadside Picnic setting.

1) Pic related seems pretty coincidental in relation to the Sapphire
2) Nassun looks like she is about to go Izanami on other orogenes (as when the loli Yin made all the contractors kill themselves)
3) The Father Earth thing reminds me of the observation spectres and furthermore Schaffa is constantly smiling as opposed to the dolls which never smile and are completely emotionless, all of which occurred as a result of some unknown change (in one case it is the moon, in the other case it is the gates)

NKJ liked DTB which is why I think that at least part of the setting was lifted. I'm getting a lot of vibes.

Schaffa x Nassun is probably going to be pushed up to eleven and be even more moe in The Stone Sky, but I doubt she's going to go anywhere beyond implying implications or the book equivalent of headpats. People looking for progressive books probably aren't going to approve of Schaffa x Nassun, unless she wants to get slaughtered.

Then again, Jemisin likes Darker than Black. Which is the most obvious anime loli shipperfaggotry produced in ages, not to mention Nassun is about to go full Izanami in the Stone Sky.

The Broken Earth = Shinsekai Yori + Darker than Black (Hei and Yin) + ???

>JEMISIN: Darker Than Black: I don’t know why I like this series. It’s not at all my usual thing… and yet there’s something about the badass, nihilistic, somehow pathetic Contractors that fascinates me.

Nassun (Loli) → Yin (Loli)
Schaffa (Killer) → Hei (Killer)

Coincidence?

Nassun gets a more literal interpretation of Hei/BK-201's powers with transmutation rather than just electricity. Schaffa gets Yin's tracking instead and a creepy smile instead of being completely unable to smile.

And in the Obelisk Gate it's mentioned several times that Nassun does weird fuck stuff with orogene powers. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think that she makes the orogenes kill themselves next book.
