Just finished Tiamat's Wrath last night...

I'm not sure I like the direction it went with solving the issues of the last book or two. Especially the final battle felt like the bad guys were made completely retarded so that the scrappy good guys could win after pulling a fleet out of their asses.
They even had the good guys do what they bad guys should have had set-up that would have completely flattened the good guys' fleet.

The whole book kinda felt like they knew they'd written themselves into a corner, so they just made things happen to say there'd never been walls behind them at all.

Which is a shame, because besides Cibola Burn, the series has been overall good.

I'll give them the major character death in it. That was at least a well thought out plan, that still required sacrifice to pull off.

I'll likely still read whatever the 9th and final book ends up being, but I'm not looking forward to it.
