I was walking home with an old friend today and he tells me about his crazy "social life". Oh, yes, that's crazy, niiice, cool. As you can probably tell, I'm not really interested in parties but he doesn't take any hints and blabs on about how wild his "social life" is. He then goes on to belittle me for not caring and pretends to feel sorry for me. He thinks I deserve his faux-pity because I don't get wasted every weekend. He determines his self-worth based on how many "friends" he has, or how many girls he slept with. Why are people so shallow?

You should be reading a number of different authors within one topic, understand their arguments fundamentally, then analyze them and come to your own conclusions.

if you're reading philosophy arbitrarily, you're not going to come up with any worthwhile ideas because the information won't be cohesive nor complete and you'll be missing canonical texts that provide a solid foundation for whatever thoughts you may have. Sure, you may come up with an original idea on your own, but it's likely to be shit unless you're some sort of genius.

Also read the texts more than once for true understanding.

I suggest you really read some philosophy of religion if you want a comprehensive view on this topic instead of blindly defending what you've been brought up to believe.

Okay /lit/,

What's your academic background? I wanna see how I measure up and whether you're all just a bunch of self-taught or still-in-school-undergrad plebs.

Me: B.A. Philosophy summa cum laude at shit-tier university

So my friend, (we will call him ragecake) wants to be an authour. I've discussed the buisness factors of writing, however ragecake is... not the best writer.

Now he does have the imaginative qualities required, but he can't express them cleanly and smoothly. Usually they're cluttered and incomplete, and is generally rough to read. Another main problem of Ragecake is that he doesn't practice daily, however when he is motivated he writes upwards of 20 to 30 pages of jumbled words.

He doesn't do outlines either, but hes pretty stubborn, and will not do them, or follow them in the few times I tried to get him to do them.

Tl;Dr, my friend needs help clearing up his writings.
