One of my favorite romances in fantasy was in Legend by David Gemmell. A man and a woman stuck in a crappy situation end up falling for each other because of the time they spend together. It's so hilariously simple yet it's completely realistic and believable because that is how people fall in love in real life. A real life example of this is two pro-wrestlers went on a first date (a man and a woman) and at the end of the date the male pro-wrestler straight up asks the female pro-wrestler to marry him and she said yes and they've been married for almost 25 years.
