If you don't accept human nature and evolutionary biological instincts as fact then your theories are WRONG and you should be mocked everywhere you go.

"I couldn't reduce it to the freshman level. That means we really don't understand it."
-Richard Feynman

Jargon can be avoided or explained in the developing stages of a book/paper. Plenty of academics sell the practical applications of their field's breaking developments but philosophers won't do this because they have little interest in money and improving people's lives. Also, the secret club contract precludes plebeian explanation so as to prevent revolutionary arousal among the lesser minds, e.g. telling everyone about free will and causing the collapse of civilization.
Since I'm unscrupulous I plan on selling philosophy's secrets after I find the juiciest.

What does /lit/ think of Steven Pinker? I'm trying to get through The Language Instinct right now and this is arguably one of the worst experiences I've had reading an academic. For everyone one piece of useful information he pulls ten fedoras out of his ass that have absolutely nothing to do with linguistics. Does it get any better?

>Then everyone snuggled up in a pyjama pile to eat toast and watch Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Who are some authors that epitomize 'middlebrow?'

Steven Pinker for sure.
