the second book is boring me to tears. I just want to know more about the aliens in the sea. When does this get good?

I'm looking for fantasy books where the protagonist starts and ends the adventure alone and doesn't gather a group of DnD along the way, though he can obviously meet and interact with people. Maybe there are thousands of books like this but I haven't read a lot of fantasy

The few interesting ideas present are not explored, story centers on a narrator who is both unpleasant and dull, arbitrary magic solves plot conflicts

Can someone give me a basic plot summary of this series? Apparently it starts off as fantasy and the twist is that it turns out to be some crazy sci fi with aliens and shit?

It's non-supreme, non-sublime, non-based, non-exquisite, non-deluxe and non-kino.

Why would anyone think Wolfe is supreme? I feel like Bakker surpass the jackal, Bakker reigns above the likes of wolfes and doggies alike.

Anybody else let down by this? It wasn't bad and I learned some neat words, but I found the whole narrative kind of dull. I get that there's deeper layers to it, but i don't see the point in rereading it and combing through every page for obscurities and riddles.

Just finished up Book of the New Sun. Wow. It was so good that I found myself reading and listening to analysis after every chapter. This was the first work of Gene Wolfe I’ve read.

What should I read next? I was thinking Fifth Head of Cerberus.

Is this series that good or is it just another series that Reddit fingers their asshole over but actually sucks?
