Is there a /lit/ guide in how to approach the Foundation series and the works of Asimov in general?

There is a single paragraph in this book where a woman appears (with speaking lines too), and it’s quite unnecessary. Why did Asimov include a woman when it wasn’t necessary?

Pic related is the best. Not bloated, but has depth, easy to digest, plot is concise and to the point. Doesn't spend an eternity on boring ass shit. It's one thing to the next and every chapter is genuinely quality. Asimov is the king.

Reading Isaac Asimov's Foundation as a woman has been HARD. I know there are cultural considerations to the time this was written, but man, this has been a tough book to get through. It's annoying to think that in all the possible futures one could imagine for the human race, he couldn't fathom one where women are more than just baby machines. I thought it was bad not having a single female character, but when I got about 3/4 through to find that, in fact, the one and only woman mentioned is a nagging wife easily impressed by shiny jewelry, I gave up all together. Maybe there is some redemption at the end, but I will never know I guess.

Just finished this book. Took me 10 days to read with varying amounts of reading time each day. I'm not a fast reader though. Fuck my life.
First few chapters: this is super easy, but boring.
Then after that: getting a bit interesting
From I don't know half way through or something: don't understand shit. Just force myself to read the whole book, not even bothering trying to understand anymore.
I don't think it's so much the language, even though English is my second language. I'm going to reread it, slower, and take notes of all names of people and places and at what page they were first mentioned. Might help. Might also look up words I don't know the meaning of. It's going to be boring but maybe not because hopefully I will understand more.

I was never that into sci-fi as a kid, star wars was cool but it nothing ever really whetted my appetite for more. i was mostly fantasy for the longest time. This year however i bought the audiobook for this series and finished it within a month and it was the most interested ive ever been in sci fi. I read a little of heinlein, vonnegut and card but this series made me want to read more sci-fi out there like Dune.

Is Isaac Asimoc great? I'm new to SF. I've read the Foundation Trilogy, the first three books. And honestly I'd say I quite like it.

Something I've been dying to read, but haven't had the opportunity to pick up.
That way the intrigue is doubled.

I read pic related last time I tried to get into reading, it was great. I tried to follow it up with a non-fiction, 'useful' book, got bored, and spent 2 years on /mu/. I want to try to get into reading again. I'll read literally any book as long as it's engaging. Where do I start?
