China doesn't have the cultural DNA of trying to "convert" everyone in this prophetic or messianic way. I think it's like if you want to go there and learn from them, they'll roll out the welcome mat, but otherwise they don't care other than saying "good luck."

A lot of Western thinking comes from Christianity even if it's secularized. Which means that ideologies also become like Christianity, and they have to be perfect. If an Abrahamic religion has flaws, that means the religion is no longer holy but just nonsense made up by humans. Similarly, the ideology has to be comprehensive and universal, so when mistakes happen, it's the people who fail to interpret the ideology/religion rather than the ideology/religion itself going wrong.

But like trying to use the Bible to explain the universe, there is a huge gap between the world according to ideology and the world according to political reality.

So to fix problem, you need to come up with a reason like "don't take the Bible too literally" or "God is working in a mysterious way but he's on our side" or "trust the plan" or you believe in the literal meaning of the Bible and the absolute accuracy of the book such that you're essentially an anti-social conspiracist who insists COVID-19 is just a flu even in your last moment in the hospital and Jesus will arrive in 10-20 years and convert everyone. And also if there are problems they're caused by Satan or heretics like "woke" people who don't follow "true" Marxism as if Karl Marx was a prophet and being a communist means understanding Das Kapital in the original German.

If you translate those words into international politics, it's also what the the Western media and politicians have been saying about China in how they'll all convert to liberalism any day now, or the apocalypse will happen and China will collapse and then "Jesus" will come to China. Basically, alternative reality has replaced reality. It's like an old bottle with new wine. Of course there are cults in China and this kind of black/white thinking there too, but I'm talking about the dominant philosophies in these respective societies.
