Just reread this for the first time in a few years. I used the annotated edition.

Why the FUCK is this considered beginner friendly? It's absolutely packed with allusions, foreign phrases and references to antiquity. I can't imagine a more difficult book for a beginner to pick up and start reading. He wouldn't get half of the damn sentences.
