I am implying that it's inauthentic, and yes there is a correct way to be a Catholic or an Orthodox Christian. I'm sure that even the LARPers — especially the LARPers, actually — would agree with me on that point at least, if on nothing else. It's just that the bar the LARPers set for themselves and others is so high, that ironically enough, none of us could ever reach it. That'd be fine on its own if they accepted the out offered to them by Saul in the New Testament [Gal 2:20-21], but for the most part, they act like hard legalists, mirroring the "evil" Jewish pharisees, despite their common antisemitism.

You'll notice as well that they've created an interesting meme subculture here, on Youtube, and in various other pockets of the internet catering to themselves with quotes and music, images and political messaging they view as "based", not unlike the dreaded "hip Protestant", only adapted to their respective faiths. Funnily enough, many of these communities use rap, trap, phonk, etc. in their videos, which in any other context they would call degenerate. Many of these people are young men who either don't go to church at all, or do, yet actively go against the guidance of the church.

I wouldn't disagree with you, honestly. The same obsessive (likely autistic) personalities are present across all of these LARPing communities. Furries, trannies, orthobros, tradcaths, etc. all have a high concentration of depressive, anxious, lonely individuals who've lived online for so long that their online personas have started to bleed into the real world. Only, if we're categorizing them into aisles, one aisle boasts about the prevalence of diagnosed autism in their communities, and the other simply doesn't recognize it at all despite staring their own mental illness in the face each time they make fun of the first. The second aisle has never and most likely will never be diagnosed because they've been infected with a very particular strain of anti-intellectualism which claims all true intellectual achievements as their own, deeming everything outside their realm of belief to be false, since it's been corrupted by Jewish influence (not much better than fedora atheists if you ask me).

>I'd also throw in Mcluhan's writing on acoustic vs literary culture since much of that touches on role playing.
>Role playing and relying on rough abstract categories is just necessary because the worldwide electric village simply does not have the means of engaging with you as an individual
I think I'll read this. Thanks for the recommendation, and thanks for the effortpost.
>If you want to exist in a meaningful way at all in "mass society" you need to take on an identity/group that is intelligible within that system, and that is those things people larp as.
Now this seems like it's really hitting the nail on the head. There's been a real reduction of "normal" people in the world. It's rare to see a person who hasn't been radicalized.

>Today have an idea
>this rough idea was in my mind for over a year, but today I finally had a clear vision about what the story is about, the climax, the end, the theme, etc
>ready to get to work
>but
>there is one problem
>the first half of the story has to be a build up to the climax in the exact middle
>unlike something like C&P the murder the MC will commit is not planned, its done in a fit of rage
>I have to somehow capture the attention of the reader for a good houndred pages before anything actually "happens"
How can I do this? Any tips on how to make what is essentially a long buildup interesting to the reader?
The latter half I have planned is very packed with stuff happening and engaging, even ironically funny, but the first half is the ordinary and frustrating life of our protagonist, which I feel could get very boring
