Reminder that Pride & Prejudice is okay, but her best book is Emma.

My girl Jane.

One of the finest novelists ever, and I'll hear no arguments to the contrary. Even Nabokov agreed, as much as he hated to do it.

I'm upset that he didn't like Jane Austen, who was a much better writer than he was.

Just read Jane Austen, she's unironically great. Anyone who tells you otherwise is memeing.

>It's Valentine's Day and he's spending it on 4chan discussing /pol/ trigger bait and irrelevant philosophers
Fuck that, we need a designated thread for the greatest love stories ever written.

What are some other novels you could do this to? It would have to be something with a lot of female characters that could be drawn as attractive anime girls. Maybe some Jane Austen books? Imagine a light novel version of Mansfield Park or Emma.

Anybody who doesn't at least read Jane Austen, George Eliot, and Emily Bronte is missing out, they're all quite good writers. Especially Austen and Eliot. I've never been able to figure out why Austen particularly makes this board seethe.

I come to 4channel.org for fun and entertainment, not to write a doctoral thesis. I'd rather talk about Elizabeth Bennet being a cutie than Austen inventing free indirect discourse.

Precisely the reason based Jane has lasted better than any other novelist of her era, because she ignored the grand narratives and focused on timeless domestic concerns rather than bore you about Napoleon or the revolutions

>/lit/ complains about how boring Jane Austen's novels are
>doesn't appreciate the complex psychology at work in her depictions of her characters, and how masterfully she depicts the subtle elements of the human psyche

I'm sorry these books do not have enough swords and lasers and dinosaurs for the average poster on this board.
