You keep on using that word, how is it disingenuous? The teleological argument is not only important in justifying these kind of beliefs it is also by far one of the most common in the minds of people generally.

To leave it for latter as you put it would be like avoiding all discussion of the USSR when discussing socialism with someone newly interested. Sure it should define it and be the only point, but it certainly must be dealt with early on.

There is no deception or insincerity in recommending this.

>Besides all that, the "very serious difference in views and sentiments" is the OPs intent to "convert" his girlfriend to his point of view. Probably better to find some middle ground to enjoy together than try and trick her with half-baked logic. At the least he could try for a book that focuses more on a scientific worldview that doesn't bring up religion (but implies that a god is unnecessary).

Differing on the issue of region and the issues that underpin it is one of the most important differences there can be for most couples. If OP has any long term aspirations with her this is a point that must be resolved quite quickly.

>Maybe Hawking's "A Brief History of Time"? It gives a physical account of the universe and has no recourse to god, might be a nicer way to go about things rather than opening with "Why your god is self-contradictory (ergo why you're a fool for believing in Him)".

Because as long as the teleological argument has any root in her mind you will never get past pic reacted.
