>friend gives you book
>says you'll love it
>10 pages in and it sucks
>don't want to read it
>don't want to give up and disappoint your fren
I hate when this happens

How do I stop reading so slowly? I've been reading consistently since I was 12 or so yet i still read well below the average adult reading speed

I'm trying to find a novel I read in 5th grade about 10 years ago. All I can tell you is
>It was probably YA
>The protagonist (forget their gender) is a student and works in some sort of bakery or restaurant
>At one point in the novel they give a homeless man a sandwich and this ends up being important for some reason
>They end up in the studio audience of a gameshow at one point
>Their best friend is epileptic
>I think it involves time travel eventually
>The cover of it is a plainish background with objects of relevance to the story on it (I think one of them was a key. I remember thinking this cover was neat because you'd try to guess how they relate to the story)
I have no idea whether or not this book was popular at all, I just found it at the school library
Do any of you know what book I'm describing or have any books that you have hazy memories about like this?

Why is the study of videogames as an art form so underdeveloped in academia?

I wanted to write my dissertation on videogames but got turned down by my professors.

Books on the cultural/artistic impact of vidya?

Not really. There was a time when everything was conveniently in walking distance. And how does your freedom expand? You're expected to obey the system by following the traffic laws and stick to the road. When you're walking you can go anywhere you want.

So the classic's teach us not to be racists pieces shits, sexists, judgmental , etc etc. I have been looking into a real self improvement book that isn't those cliche joel olsteen books or tittle "The hidden power in you" .

>get on subway full of people, sit facing the open center (most visible) and start reading my book
>30 minutes later look up and see I'm the only one left on the train except for some black people and senior citizens
>put my book away
