When I was 18, I was confused by how people smarter and more educated than me can believe in god despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. But I stayed humble and assumed I was the retard and there must be something to it. I must be missing something.

10 years later, I have read through the canons of eastern and western philosophy, read all the major holy scriptures and seen countless debates, and I am left shocked at how dishonest and cowardly the human species is, to en masse believe in something that is categorically incorrect.

I'm not even trying to talk shit or start a debate. How the fuck can people respect themselves as thinking beings when they so happily delude themselves voluntarily? Yes, reality is bleak, and god/faith/religion provides a lot of tidy answers, but I just can't understand how someone can be comfortable living a lie. Is there a god sized hole in the human rationale, or are people just cowards who refuse to accept the reality of existence and our place within it?
