Which books that have been absolutely terrible have also been turned into movies that are much better than the source?

>Half the book is flashbacks about how shitty of a wife she was.
>Direct rip off of ''A Roadside Picnic''.
>The end is a nonsenical fever dream of protagonist saying ''I don't know anything so don't expect a good ending and nothing is explained lol spooky huh''.
>She realizes her only worth is being a wife and sets out to try and find her husband, or at the least, just follow his path.

Meanwhile the movie is about 4 kickass women who don't die within the first 1 minute with excellent visuals and basically rewrites the entire book into a much better story.

Marathoned the first 10 pages and it reads like hot shit

How are they going to depict half the shit in this book. I feel like however they make this movie it's not going to please people who read the book.
