I rarely read books in English and the site annoys me because the books/editions I read are sometimes there, sometimes not there and it triggers me. Fuck goodreads.
I have the books collected on a real shelf in my living room and if I want to read dumb opinion I can always come to /lit/.

>Really? Here's more and maybe my tone comes off better
Your tone is fine. I think the strongest part is the beginning before the King of Sorrow. The tone is much stronger there, that's my favorite part.
I say it comes off like parody only because of the King of Sorrow section, how it repeats the "fought each other" seemingly interminably past when the point has been made. It becomes humorous. I think it could be truncated, that whole King of Sorrow section could be more concise, it drags somewhat and I find it hard to see where you're going.
In the second image you shared the tone does clash a little in the dialogue. "We will slay you if you do not leave is alone" sounds too conversational. The tone outside of the dialogue reminds me of that Mesopotamian inscription that sometimes gets posted as a meme, I think the monarch is Ashurbanipal, and he goes on in a sort of chant where he talks about treading on his enemies and slaying the children and enslaving the women and burning the crops and whatnot. Here I'll post it.
I would read that and use it for inspiration for the dialogue there. Get a sense of that archaic way of speaking and thinking for these Kings.

How come very ancient literature is so straightforward? They just recount genociding babies like they're talking about the weather. Is it the bicameral mind?

Could /lit/ recommend me a good serious academic work on Neo-Assyrian warfare and statecraft? Their contributions to political theory are also appreciated.

Thank you friends
