What is it about the word "Based" that compells us to disregard the anti-intellectualism and unironic bigotry of an individual's beliefs?

I saw a post earlier about how J. Peterson got to fame by attacking trans rights, and a poster replied that every trans person is a sexual deviant and 100% insufferable.

To this obviously incorrect response which goes against established data and makes logical fallacies, everyone in the thread- including me, replied "Based", "Hello? based department?" or some derivative.

This word is infused with something psychologically powerful and I really want some investigation as to how and why
