i assumed the same, but reading witty he feels far more continential than analytic. ive read russel and wittgensteins work, especially PI, is much less mathematical and autistic than russels. iirc Witty said of nietzsche that he believed him to he right in what he wrote but he was uncomfortable with his attacks on christianity.

As far as their work being similar: in the same way that nietzsche dissolves philosophic problems by looking at the drives of a person (you dont believe x philosophy because its "true", you believe it because you are y psychologically) wittgenstein dissolves philosophical problems by looking at language (x is not a philosophical problem, its a result of y muddying up the waters of language). Both refuse to engage a given philosophical issue on its own terms but rather try to undertand why the issue exists at all and in so doing manage to look at the problem directly. Its incredibly interesting stuff.
