>Lysistrata (Douglass Parker translation)
>Pride and Prejudice
>Great Gatsby

You can't name a better list to get someone who doesn't read into reading

I think what is really wrong with this tweet is that it is written by a person who only seeks immediate gratification. Immediate gratification feels good in a very short term, but doesn't amount to much. True, fulfilling happiness is gained in other ways. By never achieving fulfillment, she is wasting her life

Whenever I'm really stressed or I had a bad day, when I'm laying in bed before sleep, I "go" to this cabin in my mind. There is a particular girl there, who I talk to about my problems. And you know what? She always has excellent points and it always helps me out. Must be a surrogate for talking to my sub-conscious. Your comment really reminded me of that. I've fantasized about her as well

A more complete reading program:
>7th Grade: The Greeks
>8th Grade: The Romans
>9th Grade: A unit on the Bible, followed by >Medieval and Renaissance lit
>10th Grade: Enlightenment up to 19th Century Lit
>11th Grade: 20th Century Lit
>12th Grade: Guided study in which the student picks something he would like to learn more in depth from the previous years, and the teacher functions more as a guide helping students.

I think this would give a huge boost to people's knowledge of the Canon and our culture. For the reading, you could do the whole book, or just do sections depending on how long it is - maybe spend a month on each one. With the first month of the semester being a short overview of the time period. What are your thoughts on this plan?
