Calling on the help of the Wittgenstein bro who lurks /lit/.

A while back in a thread you said something about Witty finding ethics not to be in the domain of philosophy; that it cannot be studied as such.

I hope this rings a bell. I'm wondering if you have a source for this.

[Reason: Just finished Kierkegaard's CUP and the former was supposed to have been a big influence to Ludwig.]

Can anyone explain Axiom 5 of propositional logic to me? I can't follow it.

Philosophy. Two options.

>be analytic philosopher
>spend 5+ years in grad school working 12 hours days
>learn to argue about smaller and smaller, more technical and more technical points
>no one other than your supervisor and 2-3 other people in the world understand your papers
>probably don't get a job

>be continental philosopher
>finish just a BA
>magically acquire cultured outlook, fantastic fashion sense and literary/musical taste
>everyone wants your cock

Why would anyone choose analytic philosophy?

If you're going to read Wittgenstein, you should read the Tractatus. After you have read it you may want to read some interpretations, as the last "Chapter" so to speak (there aren't actually chapters) gets a little deep with the logical symbolism. Well worth reading, especially as it's a short book (although dense) it shouldn't take you too long to get through it. I think you'll enjoy it.

Well first of all for those of you who really love Wittgenstein - I love Wittgenstein, he's smart - here's the thing about Ludwig Wittgenstein. Ludwig Wittgenstein used to be a rabbit, and the duckrabbit you see him putting in his Philosophical Investigations used to be his boyfriend. Then they warped the Ludwig Wittgenstein into the man you see now and he's still got his boyfriend in that book. That used to be his boyfriend so that's kind of like weird. But you can look it up it doesn't actually matter.
