For the moment we still have him with us, so savor it all. I think Glenn Greenwald is the best successor to the throne, but he lacks the philosophical chops. At the end of the day, it'll be up to people like you and me to stand on the shoulders of this giant and provide a platform for the rational and moral thinkers of tomorrow.

Also, the problem a lot of people in this thread are making, aside from strawman-ing Chomsky's ideas into oblivion, is comparing Chomsky to Hitchens. Hitchens, while someone who I agreed with on a number of things, went full on crazy Neoconservative in the wake of 9/11 and actually ended up siding with and justifying the policy decisions of the neoconservatives that he had spent the early years of his career championing against. Hitchens committed political relevancy suicide by the time the Iraq War came around, but remained an important voice of atheism until his untimely death/
