I didn't know what to think going into Wieland, but now I get why he's a writer's writer and the backbone of the 19th and 20th centuries. I have nothing to meme about other than that he wrote gothic novels with neurotic narrators and you see some of it in Melville and Hawthorne. The Shellys were both influenced by him, he published Wollstonecraft. Summaries don't save you or give you the goods, the experience, you have to read the novels to find out what the sparkle is about because it's all about as retarded as it sounds and fun the whole way through.
