Can Infinite Jest be seen as almost a "Lifecycle" plot? The beginning matches a birth, symbolically, a junior member babbling nonsense to a room of men who react violently with revulsion. The ending also literally ends with a death, not to mention Gately's trials in the hospital bed that almost resemble a mythological passing. The actual alleged content of The Entertainment supports this, I think. What does this add to the book overall? How does Eschaton figure in then, symbolically?
