Has anyone here ever turned to religion relatively late in life?

Are there any good books from the perspective of someone who found religion later on in their lives?

What is the relationship between art and poverty, in your opinion?

I think about the great artists I respect, and I realize that one thing that many have in common is that they were financially poor, often as a result of a conscious decision to "pursue their art" rather than spending the bulk of their time trying to become financially comfortable instead.

Any thoughts?

How do I create a properly structured plot that isnt just, "random things happened because reasons..."

Or am I misunderstanding and this actually isnt a problem? It's my understanding that the plot should be driven by the main character(s) and no one else.

How do I give my character motivation? I'm trying to write a fantasy novel, and one of my two main characters has a clear motivation to accept the call to adventure, but the other one is seemingly just along for the ride.

Is it acceptable to keep her motivation unexplained for now and deal with it later on?

>have ambitions of publishing novels etc
>couldn't find full-time work after college
>moved to the big city
>found a low-paying office job and wrote every night despite exhaustion
>still felt like I could make it; that I hadn't sold out
>fast-forward five years
>still in the same job, earning a good wage, barely ever write and read relatively little, exhausted and depressed
>feel like a massive sell-out, unprincipled weakling too afraid to take a financial / status hit focus most of my energy on writing and reading
>if I stay around one more year in my job I'll received a large payout when the company sells
>feels like this will just guarantee my sellout-status

I feel like I've sold out and am almost certain that I'm never gonna make it as an authentic writer that anybody would want to read or root for. I'm literally just working a full-time (longer than full-time jobs in smaller towns & cities) job in order to make enough money to NEET for a few years, but at this point I am exhausted and completely lacking in motivation and self-worth. Imagine being a reader and learning of my biographical background and thinking "man, what a boring normie sell-out."

Anybody relate to this at all?
