But wouldn't god have to be a nihilist? If he's the highest form of existence, then there can be no bigger meaning to his life, no?

The only career advice you were given was to go to college.
Didnt matter what in, if you wanted to be somebody worth anything you needed a college degree.
You didnt care for math or science too much in high school but breezed by using your higher than average intelligence.
Your only real interest was reading so you went to school for an English or similar liberal arts degree.
When you were asked what you wanted to do after you graduated you always responded with "I dont know"
Due to the insane costs of college you have tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt.
Now that you are about to graduate or have already done so you are realizing the grim reality of your situation.
There are millions of people just like you competing for only a few jobs.
You have no real skills, the only thing you can claim is "critical thinking skills" which everybody knows is bullshit.
If you had any real skills you could set yourself apart and increase your chances of getting a job.
You now are unemployed, work some shitty menial job or are putting the previous two off by going to grad school taking on even more debt.

[ERROR]

I have recently received an email considering a job interview, which ended in
"Kind regards

Jane Doe"

Do I use "Yours sincerely" or what?
I'm quite new to this. Thanks.
Pic unrelated.

Why not celebrate both?
I've got my Star Wars t-shirt on, and my towel with me.

Hey /lit/, I need some suggestions on books. Long story short, I have $200 to spend at Barnes and Nobles, and I don't want to spend it on video games or music obviously.

The only things I'm planning on picking up so far are Glen Cook books. I want to read the rest since I've just finished the first three out of his Black Company series.

Mainly I'd like Sci-Fi and Fantasy (high is the most liked), although any suggestion will be looked into and considered.

/lit/, my grandparents have asked me what I would like for Christmas, and as both a college student as well as someone who loves to read, an e-reader sounds nice.

The problem is, I have no idea what model is the best. Whether I should purchase a Nook, Kindle, etc.

Any advice?

Never start with existentialism as a basis for learning about philosophy. That's nonsensical.

Start with the Greek classics. The Socratic dialogues lay the groundwork for pretty much all Western philosophy, so start there.

/lit/... When do you think the peak of Humanity was? (or will be, if you don't think it has occured yet).

Because it sure doesn't seem like people are getting any smarter, or culture any better.

Personally, I think it was sometime deep in the past, because I can't think of any modern times they were distinctly worthy of the title of Humanity's Climax.
