It's known that Ibn Arabi does peak eisegesis and never examines surahs in context. His argument is always "This was unveiled to me, muthafucka."

Nowhere it is more obvious than in his takes on Noah and Pharaoh. For Ibn Arabi, when Allah says "Don't worship anyone but Me" Ibn Arabi thinks this means "Anything that is worshipped is Me" and of course justifies it because "Allah unveiled this hidden meaning to me" rather than to examine the context of the verses and so forth.

Ibn Arabi also believed that Jesus 'initiated' him into Sufism and that later he sees Jesus in the form of a youth at Mecca who confirms to Ibn Arabi that he is the seal of Muhammadan sanctity. What this means is that Ibn Arabi is above Jesus, and on equal rank with Muhammad, having fully absorbed all-comprehensive knowledge of Allah directly from Muhammad, and after Ibn Arabi no one will be able to do this, and they will have to rely partly on other prophets to get knowledge of Allah.

>Ibn Arabi openly said orthodox Muslims were fools and he was still held in high regard.

You might like Muhammad Iqbal. He started out very fond of Ibn Arabi but then came to hate him.
