>i-it wasn't real faith
Even more pathetic than the not-communism crowd.
Conveniently ensures that nothing can be ascertained too, which loops back to making knowing your own salvation impossible through hidden pride since no one can know he has "real true authentic" faith, and so no one can have any participation in salvation (if by faith alone). It is a passive operation and there is no free will anyway, and God is just rolling dices and laughing at some being saved and some others not, for no reason at all (because any reason would be taking into account their works which is verboten), with no way for men to even tell. Except in fact there is a way to tell: you just have to be rich and hate the pope, two very probable ways of knowing you have true faith (even when you are a self proclaimed Arian or anti-trinitarian).
That was a short summary of the history of the protestant variations on the theme in the first century of their heresies. And still repeated it in 2022. Even the not-real-faith bit. It's all so tiresome.

non-existente
it was an umbrella term created by the media to brand all non-neocons rightwingers as evil
no one else used the term until Mylo shouted it as a "badge of honor"
slowly the term lost any semblance of definition and nowadays the only "alt-right" are incels and kekistanis

Unless almost everyone in this thread is from Russia, Greece, or the Balkans, almost nobody here is actually Orthodox. At least in the Catholic threads there's a decent chance of running into actual Catholics.

I still listen to BEE's podcast (without paying for it of course) because I like to hear his take on films and the culture of Hollywood. In general I don't disagree with most of his points on Trump and the media but he definitely sounds like a broken record at this point and all I have read about "White" sounds cringy af. Unironically writing a book about Twitter controversies that is filled with cliches about millenials is just absolutely pathetic.
I think neither BEE nor the journalist look good in that piece which is probably partly because the interview was conducted by phone. Chotiner is way too pushy and just wants BEE to give in who in turn seems pretty unknowlegdeable on a topic he just wrote a book about and just overly defensive. Obviously Twitter now loves this article because it's in line with their political agenda and gives them a reason to hate on a "old white guy". Pic related is the only natural reaction to this current state of discourse

I'm currently studying at an extremely prestigious university in Paris in fairly /lit/ graduate program. Some of the students are intellectually closed-off when it comes to literally anything out of their specialized interests. They come off as blabbering retards when they speak of anything else. My father is a professor and he's remarkably anti-intellectual if it's not something that's "applied and has direct effect in the real world and can be measured using the scientific method". So, a strict positivist (autism).

True and all-encompassing intellectual curiosity is exceptionally rare, even among the intellectual elites.
