Why does this general hate GRRM so much? The first four books of ASoIaF are fucking gripping, excellent, hard to put down. He might not be as "deep" as some, but the man can tell a good story, write excellent characters, and has a good sense of humor as well –– something that's lacking in many fantasy writers.

He may not be focused on the cosmic and metaphysical, but he nails the human and the social.
