Hardly anyone here understands the Greeks, it's a bad meme.
You probably will not understand most of it, especially the pre-Socratics, so it is something to return to. Almost certainly the best idea is to start with the introductory texts of Plato, as well as The Republic. This is much more valuable than Aristotle, who will only confuse what you learn from Plato.
The only reason to go into Aristotle is if you are more of an analytic and process thinker. Otherwise just read what you are interested in and return to the more difficult Plato works and the pre-Socratics when you have time.

The real meme would be 'Understand the Moderns, Return to the Greeks.'
