It changed me a lot actually. I now see straight through politics. Everyone is just trying to manifest their will to power in the real world.

It also made me realize that my own previously strongly held values, e.g liberal values of tolerance and brotherhood, are literally just the specter of Christianity's slave morality.

People don't seem to understand that there is a difference between undue suffering that is visited upon an unwilling subject, or suffering that you willingly bear yourself.

The first category is called tragedy, the second is called being brave.

This thread is like a brilliant exposition of how people don't understand the fact-value distinction.

All of the pessimistic materialists here should try to understand that there is a difference between explaining what things are, and how you should live your life.

The former is easily explainable by science, the other not so much.

Find some transcendent meaning in your life and devote yourself to that, and never give up.
