Hey, so I hate to be THAT asshole who asks for help on homework but I have a thirty page paper on Doctor Zhivago due tomorrow and I can't find any good critical analysis on the novel. So, I was wondering if /lit/ had any insights into Pasternak's characters?
Like, I understand the struggle Yuri faces choosing between his wife or his true love, Lara. But then following the Revolution and forcing Lara to flee Russia, Yuri gets in with that other woman Marina and they have kids. Would you say that these decisions are derived from Yuri growing apathetic following the hardships of losing Lara and the war? And this could also explain his inability to finish any of his writing at this point. And the way I see it, the necessity of Yuri's death was to showcase the horrible scarring that the war had caused, but I'm not sure that's totally right.
Also does Lara have any sort of major character changes throughout the novel? I'm thinking she was mostly flat.
Also y'know feel free to just discuss this great book, or what a piece of shit op is for asking help from 4chan.

Anyone read this?

Do you recommend it?

What are your thoughts and opinions on it (just no spoilers)?
OP, I am so close to spoiling this for you for two reasons:

1. Why would you want to discuss a novel you haven't even read? That's some backwards thinking there.

2. If you don't want something spoiled, don't talk about it publicly. I would spoil this for you, but I still have some respect for others here.

If you want to discuss a book here, please read it first.

Lastly, while Dostoevsky wrote executed some mighty fine plot details, he's not the type of author where knowing the plot details are integral to appreciating the books.

Why doesn't Doctor Zhivago get more love on here? It's one of my favorite reads, and definitely the most satisfying to me.
