Usually they're fine, but make sure you check the seller's feedback rating--some of them popped up or went bust during the pandemic, and are just taking cash. Anything under 85% positive or under 100 ratings, don't touch them. And as others said, always grab the ISBN-13, toss it in Bookfinder.com, and make sure you're getting the lowest price. I just ordered six books using amazon new, used marketplace, co.uk (often foreign amazons have stuff your country is sold out of, or much better deals), ABE books, Alibris, etc.
I have bought hundreds of books through amazon marketplace, and the good experiences vastly outweigh the bad (and I have rarely been unable to get a refund if there was an issue). Never buy anything under "good" condition unless you have no other choice and are prepared for the battered "acceptable" sadness.
