okay follow up question. Should I, as a young man, stop trying to write and instead go out and try to get laid on this Friday evening?

Any books that talk about/deal with identity? What constitutes the self, how for example one's own memories play a role in this?
Fiction/non-fiction, both welcome. Even non-literature, but this is /lit after all.

Just made me feel hopeless for the near future. He correctly points out some problems, but I believe there is no solution even though he believed there was. That said, I wasn't at my best around that time so that's probably why it impacted me so much.
I've learned to cope and not care since then, though.
