Hey /lit/

I'm trying to understand some of the more redpilled perspectives in philosophy surrounding propaganda, public relations, politics, and social engineering. I want to completely avoid anything partisan or heavily biased towards a specific ideology, at least keeping it academic.

I've heard people talk about Edward Bernays, so i'm looking into him. What is his most representative work?
Are there other works like this, or better to start with?

Thank you

Do you think the Western epidemic of depressions, mental illnesses and social defects could be part of our growing secularism/purging of religious belief in our lives?

I thought of this while perusing Daniel E. Brown's List of Human Universals, where it mentions irrational belief in supernatural beings as something which is universal in human cultures throughout our history. I suppose, as a way of finding explanations for things we do not have the capacity to understand yet and as a divine guiding authority we can put our trust in. I can only speak for myself, but as a someone who has no interest in religion whatsoever and with a postmodern doubt about anything and everything, I've found myself with both depressions and a panic anxiety disorders. I do some times wish for some sort of authority I could align myself with... and now I'm wondering if my disbelief could be what is causing my illnesses. And perhaps if this is something other people experience as well, that their doubts cause anxieties that ruin their effectiveness in everyday life.

Maybe this is kind of badly explained, but if anyone can refer me to any literature that deals with religion in a anthro-psychological context or something then I'd be very happy. No Dawkins or Hitchens ITT, please.

Hello /lit/, I have a quick demographic survey for you to complete if you have the time or the motivation. I will share the results once I've collected enough responses. My results will include statistical analyses of correlations and possibly regression.

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JGCM765

Would really appreciate if you could fill it out. It's only 10 questions long.

hey /lit/ this is kind of a stretch but im looking on various opinions on the matter. Im finishing up my economics degree and doing my independent study class on the impact of non profit organizations and NGO's on America's economy and looking at their performance/ unintended consequences because of their actions.

Basically im looking for any good books and documentaries on the subject as most of my current resources are from economic journals and scholarly articles.

picture unrelated but awesome

I remember the giver being a good book. I read in in grade 3 as part of a class. It was the book that got me into reading.

Sup /lit/erati,

I'm a little down and out, and I blame books. I want to write a short story. But every idea I get sounds familiar. I think of something, sounds great at first, then I realize "well this is basically X."

(X signifying a book I've read)

I mean, it seems like every great story I can think of has already been written. Is it just me or is literature just fifteen great tales told over and over again?
