There is a reason why the characters in the Game of Thrones all seem like irredeemable one-dimensional assholes, whereas Gollum and Saruman can be empathized with and pitied. LotR touches on subjects that pathetic bugmen simply cannot grasp, because they are real life Gollums. I will pray for them.
