/lit/ - Literature

What does /lit/ think of this? Listen. Basically a short section at the beginning of each chapter, maybe a few hundred words, less than a quarter of the chapter, showing...well, whatever. Maybe a flashback, a flashforward, or some extra stuff about characters not addresses in the main chapter. Would this work or not? Not sure if an author has ever done anything quite like this (although someone somewhere must've, in some obscure novel).

I know that 95% of people don't read more than a few books a year, but why don't any girls read? It's just...weird. Shoe shopping can't take that much time.

I want an opinion on it, but I know that most people here don't get a book on Day 1.

With the exception of the first book, none of them were really worth reading.
