How do you guys read fiction books? (e.g. fantasy books)

Because whenever I try to read fiction I stop a few pages in, thinking i'm wasting my time and i'm not going to get out something practical out of it and it's just wasting time with mindless entertainment. It feels like consuming a meal at mc donalds, useless and filled with disgust.

Is this normal? Should I just stick to non-fiction or am I missing something? inb4 op is utilitarian
