Middlemarch

Anything written by a woman seems to be vastly overlooked on here, but this is amazing. It is frequently called the best English novel of all time.

Middlemarch is the Greatest English Novel.

The novel was pretty much developing towards this novel; it was the ideal novel.

It actually created a fully fleshed out town, and allowed you to see this through the eyes of a perfectly omniscient narrator-- a god.

But then at the same time, it suggests that even though the novel seems exhaustively detailed, it would be impossible for a non-omniscient being to truly understand every facet of every person's life.

The greatest book of all time.
