Speaking of Di Giovanni, now that Borges' whore second wife is finally dead, when do we think HIS translations are going to go back into print?

I can't be the only one who'd like a complete collection of all the Di Giovanni translations. I've scrounged for books from the 1960s and 1970s, but I know I don't have everything of Borges that Di Giovanni translated. They're great works of literature in their own right, less pure translations and more Borges rewriting his old work in English.

This is my favorite. There's something so beautiful about it. I've only read the di Giovanni translation into English but it's entrancingly written. I wonder if Borges' years of experience helped change some of the original story when the translation was done?

Now that Borges' ex-wife is finally dead, do you think we will ever see the Norman Thomas di Giovanni translations of his stories back in print?

They're interesting in their own right, apart from being translations of Borges into English, since Borges himself heavily collaborated with di Giovanni. Borges liked to say he wasn't really translating the stories so much as "rewriting" them. The older man rewriting the younger man. It's an interesting exercise in literature that deserves to be back in the world.

Not the hard copies.

I have a few of them in my collection. In particular I have The Book Of Sand, The Aleph And Other Stories, and The Book Of Imaginary Beings. All nice hard copies in prime condition, despite probably being more than 60 years old.

You people need to show more industry. I have gradually collected editions of the di Giovanni translations through eBay, second-hand bookstores, and thrifting.
