Shit like this is proof that Plato was right to kick the poets out of his Republic and that this board is infested with sophists. I ain't no Platonist; but really? This is clearly just a Joycian/ stream of consciousness/form innovation biased list. Case and Point: Austen is one of greatest English writers with as much substance as Kierkrgaard or Hegel. Kafka is widely recognized as probably, if not the best, one of the best prose writers of the 20th century, even above Joyce. Where is Melville? Rousseau? No mention of gothic writers; Stoker, Lovecraft, O'Connor, Stevenson. No mention of Henry James, Norris; French 19th century? Zola, Hugo, Flaubert, and Balzac? Cervantes is king. Nabokov said that himself. There is no early or late Dellilo. This list is entirely prose so it begs the question why the Bible (which is pure verse) is there anyway. Shit list for sophists.
