The Pequod and it's journey is a metaphor for Amurrica. It's as Amurrican a story can be - though I think the ending should be rewritten with a giant eagle swooping in on Moby Dick, killing him, and Ahab making a hat from Moby Dick's dick.

I've read Moby Dick and Bartleby. I thought Bartleby was really good, but not "amazing." Moby Dick is by far my favorite book.

Obligatory "I just finished Moby Dick thread."

I thought it was amazing. I really appreciated the extensive build-up to the finale. What are some other books like this?

I've heard that Blood Meridian has some similarities including its style of prose and I plan on reading it soon.
