To know and to understand are two different things entirely, I know lots of things that I can't actually internalize or else I'd have put a bullet in my head already.

I thought Svidrigailov was just a mirror to some of mankind's (and specifically Raskolnikov's) most repulsive or contradicting traits. I definitely don't think he was ever meant to be "in the right"

>A number of authors who studied Raskolnikov's character in the novel came to the conclusion that he was, if not insane, at least mentally
ill. They are not in agreement as to the nature of his illness, though. For example, Smith and Isotoff treat Raskolnikov as a clinical case in psychiatry and classify him as dem-fou and a case of "lucid madness" as described by Grasset. They come to the conclusion that Raskolnikov was an autistic personality with manic-depressive inclinations. These factors caused his idea of becoming an "extraordinary" man to develop into a
delusion, and the irresistible inner urge to test his theory forced Raskolnikov to commit his crimes.

Am I the only one who feels like a Dostoevskian protagonist?
I don't want to sound like one of those 14 yo girls with self diagnosed autism, but I can't overlook the amount of similarities between me and most of Dostevsky's heroes.
I behave like most of them and have kind of the same thoughts.
For example in Notes from Underground, the protagonist says, he feels like his life will completely change, everytime he is going to go out with a friend.
Another example is, the style in which he writes from the point of view of the protagonist. I was adressing a fictional reader in my diary and was pointing out to him my contradictions in my train of thoughts, before I have read my first Dosto book.
Who else feels like this?
